Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips or other mix-ins

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips or desired mix-ins.
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Scoop dough into large balls (about 1/4 cup each), place on baking sheet, and flatten slightly.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden brown and centers appear slightly underbaked.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough before baking to control spreading. You can experiment with different mix-ins like white chocolate chips, crushed Oreos, or caramel swirls.
